Description
There's so much of Italy I've yet to see, but when I look back on my time in Rome and around Sorrento, this is what I think of, tightly packed buildings and streets with a haphazard elegance! The epitome of my Italian experience at least!
This is a view down the Via Francesco Crispi from the Via Sistina but it's so quintessential that it could practically be half the streets in Rome on a sunny day. And really, can you believe this is the dead of winter?
Aside from the brilliant warm light, what I like most about this picture is the polar opposite of that light, the cool shadows at street level, the consequence of narrow streets and tall blocks of buildings. But I bet on a hot summer day those shadows are a welcome relief!
Ah, Italy, your memories warm me still!
