Description
When I look back on my images from Italy, it's this one from the Piazza della Rotonda in Rome that captures the essence of the Mediterranean flavor of Italy. Those worn but brightly colored stucco walls surrounding a piazza. This was Rome for me!
And stormy skies were a big part of my Roman experience as well! Since I love dramatic skies, I was not complaining, but all of the people in the foreground with umbrellas might not have agreed with me!
Although I think this has a universal Italian feel to it, it's very likely if you've been to Rome, you've stood in this very piazza. Directly behind me in this picture stands the ancient Pantheon.
For me, this picture is also an example of being open to seeing scenes around you other than the obvious one. Of course I also took a picture of the Pantheon. It was the reason I was in that plaza after all, but when I saw those gorgeous colorful buildings between the dark wet pavement and the brooding skies, I had to have this image as well.
