Description
Standing at the top of St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, the first compulsion is to look down. The views over Rome, are after all, extensive and amazing! It was quite a haul to get up there but gosh was it worth it.
I also had to look up, though, and this little segment of the cupola at the top of the dome of the church caught my eyes. Loved the really classical details of the renaissance architecture. But what I most loved was how from my perspective, the roof was not visible at all and it felt as if those old weathered columns were holding up the skies above.
Sometimes it pays to look in a direction aside from the one in which everyone else is looking!
