On my second visit to Edinburgh, I arrived in the wee hours of the morning and although I could leave my bags, I couldn't check in until the afternoon, so began my trek up Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park for the first (and so far only) time. I'm not sure I was thinking entirely straight not having slept for over 24 hours, but the thrill of reaching the top of the high hill overlooking Edinburgh was positively electric!
If you've stood atop Arthur's Seat, you probably remember the climb as I do. It started out quite easy with nice walking paths but although nothing like climbing a mountain, the last leg was not nearly so pedestrian! In fact, with the wind pelting me, it felt all the harder to reach my goal at the top.
Despite the wind, as you can see, it was a beautiful day to see the city of Edinburgh below. Warm golden sunshine bathed the scene as I spotted a couple standing on some nearby rocks. I loved the triumphant feel of them surveying the scene and I had to capture this moment of their summit. The image feels so inspiring to me, as if we were really all standing on top of the world!
