Description
My last day in Edinburgh was marked by some incredible light. And honestly in winter in Scotland, any light is pretty awe-striking when you see it, but I remain convinced that winter light in Northern Europe is a bit more dramatic due to the angle of the sun. Whatever the case, mother nature was giving me her best before I left that beautiful old city.
And seeing that beautiful light, I made my way down to Princes Street Gardens. I had taken plenty of pictures of the old castle from the esplanade but between two trips to Scotland, I had never previously managed to catch any favorable light for a picture form down below, which is easily one of the more iconic views of that beautiful old British castle!
Edinburgh Castle has such a fairy tale appearance perched high above the gardens and the light was just so that I decided this picture of the old castle deserved a fantasy feel to it.
Between the gorgeous fountain and the iconic castle, and that fabulous morning light, I'm not sure I can pick a favorite element of this picture. Can you?
Note: Both Edinburgh's historic Old and New Towns, including its iconic castle, belong to a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.
