Description
My first sunset in Mexico was overlooking the Pacific Ocean years ago and there's something always beautiful about watching the sun set over the sea. That of course, is not the case on the Riviera Maya. In Playa del Carmen, you'll find the sun setting behind you as you gaze out to sea, but that's not a bad thing.
In fact, as much as I love photos of the sun dropping into the sea, when you're looking at that, the best light is behind you! That was why I loved walking the beach at Playa del Carmen near sunset. The beach and objects on the beach like these brightly colored boats were really soaking in that golden glow of the sun as it disappeared on the horizon.
My favorite part of this scene is not the beautiful colors or the golden light, but the guy sheltering in the shade of the boats and the figures on the beach in the distance enjoying the sea. Even though I was there, it's through those people I relive the experience when I see this picture again. Can't you smell the sea air and feel the breeze off the ocean?
Although not my first experience with tropical waters, my time in Playa del Carmen was my first experience with seeing the beautiful waters of the Caribbean, and I'm here to report it was as gorgeous as I'd heard. Every day I spent on the beach there from sunrise to sunset was worth it. If you've been, don't you agree?
