I am 90% certain that the beautiful Irish beach in this photo is Fanore Beach on the Western coast of Ireland in County Clare. However, I welcome someone correcting me on this! For the longest time I referred to this simply as the mystery beach. All I knew was that our bus left Galway and after this we visited the Cliffs of Moher, but there's a lot of coastline to rule out.
Flash forward a couple of years. I had posted this photo on several message boards and finally a couple of people said they thought it was probably the beach near the village of Fanore. That beach is known for its golden sands. Sure enough when I looked at photos online that were from Fanore they bore a striking resemblance!
What I do know was that it was an incredibly beautiful beach. I'll never forget our bus pulling into for a stop. The skies were somewhat overcast, but the light was really scrumptious. I was one of the first off the bus and absolutely the last person back on. I try hard not to be that person who slows down a large group, but I was just mesmerized by how beautiful this little piece of the Irish coastline was. Look at those golden sands, the moody but perfect skies and the reflections in the wet sands...
One day I will stand on this beautiful seaside once more, but until then, I'll cherish my photos of it.
