Description
One of the highlights on my first short trip to the Yucatan was spending the day roaming the beaches at Celestun. This little sleepy seaside village in the midst of a nature preserve seemed like a place one could easily spend more than a day. And many times as I've looked at my pictures taken that day, I've wished to go back.
The tropical waters still stand out in my mind. The colors of the waters of the gulf of Mexico were the epitome of sea green. There were times as I gazed out in the shallow water at the beach that I felt as if I was looking at a painting, someone's idealized version of the gulf waters along the Mexican coast. It was just that surreal and beautiful.
And in the midst of those waters there were always a few boats waiting for enough people to gather to send out another boatload of merrymakers to enjoy the natural beauty of the Yucatan Coast. Those weather-worn little boats were so picturesque in their own right.
