Description
We left Oaxaca shortly after dusk on our second day there. It was a brief stop but it made an impression on me. Most of the city's historic center is filed with so much colonial architecture that it qualifies as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In fact, there are many buildings I saw that I couldn't guess at how old they might be. The thick walls of this old stucco building for instance, suggest a rather old building I think?
Whatever the case, I loved the deep red and the texture of the old walls and of course the big pinata dangling across the intersection. I was moved to take this photo though because of the young lady sitting in the door to the cafe. Waiting for friends? Perhaps waiting for the cafe to open? I'm not sure, but it was such an interesting street scene.
And clearly, I've gone for a dreamy almost painterly vintage feel for this particular parting shot of beautiful Oaxaca. Perhaps it reflects my memories of this beautiful city and a yearning to have more time there? If you've been, maybe it takes you back to the streets of Oaxaca as night falls?
