There's a quote from Arthur C. Clarke that has always stuck with me that goes to the effect
"any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic..."
And I think that could be said about much of our tech today and how fast it has developed and continues to flourish. We're surrounded by amazing machines. If you doubt it, consider that we went to space with less computing power than most of us have in our phones today. Imagine the magic yet to come from our tech!
The title of this piece is something of a nod to one of my favorite shows, Doctor Who, where the technology is inherently so far beyond us that it's of a magical quality. And when the show was revived, the technology of his ship was a mix of incongruous technology which reminds me of this piece, filled with everything from vacuum tubes to circuit boards, stuff that was never meant to go together but is all the history of our marvelous machines.
I know there's science inside our real world technology, but this one is for the dreamers who see magic everywhere.
