Description
The Whistle Stop Cafe is a Juliette Georgia landmark. It was made famous because it was used as the Cafe in fictional Whistle Stop Alabama for the 1990's movie, Fried Green Tomatoes. Before the movie, this Monroe County town was a mostly forgotten small town. Like many small towns it had lived and died with the railroads it sprouted alongside. But when it was selected to stand in for Whistle Stop, Alabama, Juliette had a new lease of life. It's become a place of pilgrimage for people who love the film, book, or simply want to try the signature dish of Fried Green Tomatoes. Juliette was renovated for the film and today looks much as it did back then.
Even without the history, this location has a beautiful charm to it. One can totally understand why it was chosen by the film makers for the location for the Whistle Stop Cafe.
