Description
There was no question in my mind when I began trying to capture some of Atlanta's landmarks that the Fabulous Fox Theatre was one of them. Long before I had moved to Atlanta, I had heard of the Fox. In fact, I saw Cats from the Nosebleed seats here when I was in high school.
The Fox is one of those happy stories of preservation success. When it looked as if it would be razed in the 1970's, citizens banded together to save the Fox for future generations and thank goodness they did. This beautiful theater deserves to be more than just a memory. Sadly many old movie palaces have crumbled and faded.
I was trying to capture that feeling of old grandeur and almost a technicolor dream in this piece of photo-based digital art. And I feel I've succeed. This is the Fox as I'll always remember her, big marquee tucked into tree lined streets, a very Americana feel that's endured.
