Description
I stumbled upon this beautiful flower while wandering around the Ano Nuevo State Park. At the time, I had no idea what it was. I simply loved the intricate details of the flowers, so unlike anything I'd ever seen back home.
Imagine my surprise when I later started researching the name of this flower and discovered it's none other than the Thistle, the very same flower of Scotland! Considering my Scottish roots and that I had flanked my trip to Northern California with two trips to Edinburgh, there was kind of symmetry in my stumbling upon this beautiful symbol of Scotland growing wild in a far away California state park.
Years later, I'm still in love with the shape of this flower and in the soft natural backdrop upon which I captured it.
