This colorful rendition of a Porter's Sunflower from Mount Arabia is my love letter to pop art. I'm not sure what it was about this little Confederate Daisy that told me it wanted this treatment, but it did. I almost feel like I've held up a kaleidoscope to the original?

The original flower in this work is Helianthus porteri, also known, apparently, by the names Porter's Sunflower, Confederate Daisy, and Stone Mountain Yellow Daisy. They grow wild on only a few rocky outcroppings in the southern US. They are well known to visitors to Stone Mountain but also grow quite bountifully on its near neighbor, Arabia Mountain.
