Description
I don't know that I could ever locate this decaying flower shop again. I had taken a long ramble through the streets of Merida on my first visit there. On my way back, I believe I got a little crossed up on what street I was on and stumbled across this beautiful decay. I love the texture that only time can create. Just look at the faded and peeling paint. And all the crumbling architecture. For anyone who enjoys a little grit, here it is!
Years later, I had some trouble determining what the sign above the shop door said but managed to get a native Spanish speaker to take a look and they indicate the sign reads: "Floreria y fabrica de coronas, El Divino Nino Jesus." I'm still a little fuzzy on what the Christ child has to do with it, but he mural to the right of the door is of Jesus as a child. And the shop is, or rather was, a flower shop and fabricator of floral wedding crowns. Wouldn't this have been a riot of colors when the shop was in business?
