Description
There are so many faces to a winter day in Ireland, and I've found much of Northern Europe. Maybe it's the same back in the states and I've failed to notice it. But one moment, the sun is out and the day is bright and alive. The next the clouds close in and thinks become comparatively moody.
Such was the case on this particular day in Dublin, Ireland. I had started out the day intent to stay in as it was gray and not so inspiring for the artist in me. Luckily I was near a window and saw the sun come blazing forth. And I spent a lot of that day roaming along the River Liffey in the heart of Dublin, enjoying the sunlight and the cityscape bathed in warm light.
By the time I made it as far down as Inns Quay, where Dublin's Four Courts lies, the strong light was gone. In a way, I'm sorry I missed it, but I was equally inspired by the moody skies and the somber lighting. Maybe it was because the imposing neoclassical Four Courts fit the scene so well. There's something about large edifices like this that just seem to suit a moody scene more, don't you think?
Still, one day, I'd love to take a companion piece to this photo on some beautiful spring day. I dream of re-visiting beautiful Dublin and all of Ireland again. If you've been or hail from there, I'm sure you understand why!
