Description
One one of my final days in Dublin, and in fact, Ireland, I had a few beautiful hours of sunlight. In fact, my favorite type of sunlight, sunlight mixed with gorgeous skies. The skies over Dublin's south side were fairly clear, but the skies over the northern half of the city were filled with fantastic skies. This, as you can see, made for some amazing photos. Beautiful winter sun striking the northern quays of the Liffey really lit up those beautiful buildings that line the river. And the skies... wow... these are the types of skies you see more often in fall and winter than any other time of the year, undulating clouds. And those buildings and skies reflected so perfectly in the river.
I knew when I saw this scene that I had to get a panorama of the Liffey before I left and today was that day. For orientation's sake the bridge in the right hand end of this panorama is the bridge that crosses over to meet O'Connell Street. You can even see the Spire of Dublin reaching into the sky if you look closely. That means the nearest quay is Bachelor's Walk.
There's not a time that I look at this photo that I don't get wistful for Dublin again. Such a beautiful and raw, real Irish city.
