Description
Restored vintage post card circa 1941 showing the 1926 Post Office in Andalusia, Alabama. The building located at 212 South Three Notch Street is now the public library. A new post office opened in November of 1965. This was a special project to restore as my grandfather, Charles Wilson, worked in this post office from the early 1940's until his retirement in April, 1965.
This postcard was originally produced by Curt Teich, a company out of Chicago, Illinois, who produced a wide range of popular postcards throughout much of the 20th century. These cards have an iconic flavor of Americana today. They were produced from black and white photographs in a four color lithographic printing process. The black and white photo was converted into a half tone image and an artist created the color maps for each color that was used in the printing. The number in the bottom right corner indicates this was a reprint of a 1941 Curt Teich Postcard. This restoration is as close to original as possible including the halftone dot pattern which will be visible up close if printed large.
