Description
I've always had an armchair interest in old train stations and depots. I don't know what it is about the bygone era of train travel and transportation (at least in the US) that has always appealed to me.
But I know at least a part of it is the beautiful architecture of those old buildings. Even a simple freight depot like this one in Augusta had a style to it that no warehouse or transfer depot today seems to have. It was built to last and to look brilliant at the same time!
Imagine the workmanship in those old doors, the brickwork. Even a little worn it still shines through!
What caught my attention when visiting Augusta was that this old train depot bore an uncanny resemblance to the old train depot in my own home town. There was no question they were playing from the same Queen Anne style architectural cheat sheet when they built these!
