Description
There are times when photography truly involves being at the right place at the right time. When I got up one early morning several years ago before dawn, I had no idea what I'd see. In fact, I had never been to the little park just below Lake Lanier. It simply sounded like a neat place for a sunrise walk with my camera.
Most of that walk was uneventful but incredibly peaceful, but just before I turned to walk back to my car, I looked across the Chattahoochee and saw a sudden flood of light. The sun had broken through and was creating a truly magical scene in the fog on the waters just below Buford Dam.
The little gazebo on the opposite bank looked like it might be ripped from a storybook scene somewhere, perhaps in a tale from the far east somewhere. I took several photos in those short few moments before the light retreated, but that feeling of awe each time I look at this picture has never fled.
In the years I lived in North Georgia, I would go back here several times but I never captured lightning in a bottle a second time. It makes this one moment all the more magical to me years on.
