Description
It's funny how much the world around us plays a part in the scenes an artist seeks. Or perhaps I'm just a bit contrary? But when I lived in the suburbs north of Atlanta, I was always hunting for places where I could capture the simpler side of life. I longed to find peaceful scenic places in my own backyard. Now that I live in a rural setting, I think I've come full circle to seeking out city scenes.
But this scene of a fisherman out in the morning on the Chattahoochee River was that era of my life when I was hunting for the serene. And a photographer friend in nearby Roswell mentioned this particular bend in the river as being a great place for morning light. And he was most correct. Over and over I came back to this spot. The light was not, of course, always there, but when it was, like this particular morning, it was just golden and beautiful.
And even though this fishing scene is more or less well within the boundaries of metro Atlanta, it's not the city I think of when I look at it. I think of the beautiful natural settings that North Georgia has to offer, the opportunity to commune with nature whether standing on the shore as I was or heading out to fish as the subject of this scene was. Ah, peace and serenity...
