Description
Paris is easily one of the most photogenic cities I've visited. It may in fact be the most photogenic. In the heart of the city, it seemed like there was a beautiful vista around every corner.
I encountered this scene that I only identified later one sunny afternoon. The foreground, the Pont Neuf, is one of Paris's oldest bridges. Don't you love the intricate pavement and the old world street lights?
While the bridge was in shadows, the skyline ahead was bathed in sunlight, and it really screams Paris! The most prominent building, La Samaritaine, was a 19th century department store, remodeled in the early 20th during the height of the Art Deco movement, hence the style. No longer in It closed its doors in 2005 from what I read but it still has that Parisian flair about it doesn't it? Seeing how Paris values its history I feel sure some new use will be found for such a beautiful piece of the Paris cityscape.
