Description
The location of this Egyptian landscape is lost to me, hence the title. The photo this piece of textured art was based on was taken through the windows of a van en route from Luxor to Hurghada, where we arrived after dark. I'll never forget looking out the van windows at those mountains, and the deep red hues of the setting sun. The hues were incredible but there was no time to stop to take in this little slice of the rugged Sahara.
I have no doubt if I ever make it back to Egypt, there will be whole stretches of my travels devoted to enjoying the beauty of that vast desert. But I digress! Despite the motion, I loved this image. In fact, despite isn't quite the right wrod, it's more because of. I loved the sense of the desert sands blending in the foreground, a mixture of orange and red, and the mountains, being much more distant seeming so fixed in place compared to the foreground.
It was this feeling of a painterly wash of colors that made me decide to take this particular Egyptian landscape to another level. The textures in my eyes impart a feeling of fantasy, a lost land in a lost time far away from the here and now. And they call me back....
