Description
I actually paid more than one visit to the Vatican during my trip to Rome. I discovered quickly there's more than a little to do at this site, not the least of which is standing in lines even in the winter.
My first sighting of the Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano (St Peter's Basilica), though, was beneath dramatic skies! My trip to Rome was highlighted by either nearly cloudless sunny days or overcast ones like pictured. Both, of course, have their own story! On a cloudless day, I never would have gotten such dramtic skies to set off the incredible renaissance architecture of the basilica and St. Peter's Square! And weren't the paving stones or sampietrini beautiful wet and reflecting the overcast skies?
I'll take moody skies over clear blue ones any day!
