Description
There's no doubt that Samford Hall is one of those buildings you don't forget if you've ever attended Auburn University. I still remember driving down South College for the first time and seeing those beautiful Romanesque towers. How about you?
Samford Hall was built in the 1880's following the destruction of "Old Main" by fire. For years it was simply known as the Main Building, only being renamed William J Samford Hall in 1929. Samford Hall housed classrooms and the library for decades, but as the campus grew and evolved, Samford Hall became the main administration building for the school. For students today, it's probably hard to imagine Auburn being so compact that students went to class there!
