Description
This Victorian style railway depot was built for the Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad in the small town of Ideal, Georgia, in my home county of Macon. It was built circa 1906 and was a prefab structure. If you visit other surviving stations from this railroad, most all look essentially alike. The exact placement of the windows and doors varies a bit but they all have the same tower at the corner by the bay window for the ticket counter. And when they were originally built they all had clay tile roofs. The one in Ideal actually doesn't anymore but I wanted to portray it with more of its historic charm.
The Ideal depot was given to the city some decades ago and it was moved a few yards off the railroad right of way and is used as the small but charming city's community center.
