Description
It's funny what a difference light makes. I must have walked past this particular building a dozen times as I was staying just up the street from it in Oaxaca, Mexico. And it was only in the late afternoon when the sunlight was really hitting it that I stopped to admire those Art Deco lines. I love how they highlighted the details in such nice shades of red and blue and how the blue echoes the skies.
The skies in this part of Mexico were truly amazing. Shades of blue that never seemed to fail to be deep and clouds that felt near enough to touch. Perhaps it was the altitude in Oaxaca? Perhaps I just lucked up that particular day? I hope to find out some day as Oaxaca had a great mix of architecture. It's known for it's Colonial City center, but there were beautiful buildings from any century to see there.
Art Deco is one of my favorite architectural styles. That was what made me pause here. But what made the image for me was the colors. Blue is one of my favorites and it carries through this scene from sky to architecture and even to the little taxi cab on the street corner. This was a visual medley I think.
