There's a lot of meaning to this picture for me. Grounded in the literal, it's a portion of the great earthen mound that surrounds what survives of the massive ancient stone circle at Avebury. That alone is fascinating. You're literally walking on history when you walk along the top of it. This is not a natural hill. Thousands and thousands of years ago, our ancestors piled this up with their own hands. There were no bulldozers or anything we'd consider remotely capable of this kind of work. Can you imagine building a circular mound that way? They must have felt this place was seriously special and/or sacred!

But the next layer to this picture is the image itself and what it represents to me. As I watched my fellow travelers walk across the top of the mound in a long line reaching to the distance, I saw the way the clouds and the landscape converged in the distance.
