The Louvre is probably high on the list of places that are incomparable. I've visited some world class museums and the Louvre was definitely at the top of that list. Just inside that glass pyramid entrance lies untold treasures of the world in art. I walked until my feet said no more and still am not sure I saw even the highlights.

Of course, the Louvre itself is an experience unto itself. It started life as a Medieval fortress and was transformed into a Renaissance palace. The architecture is primarily from the French Renaissance period but it truly spans the ages right to today with the addition of the glass pyramid entrance in the Cour Napoleon seen here. Wonderful modern touch isn't it? Truly unforgettable.
