There's something about a storm, the charge in the air, that stirs the soul for some of us. I know I for one feel more alive, more awake, when a storm rolls in, particularly one that comes from the sea.
Maybe that's why artwork that features dramatic storms at sea has been so popular for so long, that it reminds those of us who love storms how we feel during them? That's my suspicion, but it also defies logic since a strong storm can be dangerous if not deadly. You wouldn't expect such a forbidding force of nature to be celebrated otherwise?
Who knows! But my own love of the storm is what led me to this scene of the pier at Tybee Island reaching into a storm filled sea beneath heavy rains. I can smell the charged sea air just looking at this picture... Ah...
