I had heard the views from the bell tower at Iglesia la Merced were beautiful, but I could not have timed it better if I had tried. The late afternoon winter sun was stretching across the cityscape below and the lake was just visible on the horizon. It was genuinely a postcard picture view of the old Spanish Colonial city on the shores of Lake Nicaragua.
I loved how the vibrant gold of the city's cathedral stood out above the red tile rooftops. Everywhere I looked there seemed to be great color soaking up the afternoon light.
The fact this was so postcard perfect played a distinct role in my editing of this piece. It reminded me very much of an old vintage postcard. The only thing missing is "See Granada" in those blue skies! Every time I look at this piece, I want to see Granada again myself!
