When I originally started my series of vintage Union Jack flags, I was going to put place names on all of them. And I still intend to create more of those British place-name flags, but I was working on this one, unadorned with any lettering and decided that I liked it so much that I wanted to include some "plain" vintage flags as well.

This particular piece, I wanted to have the feel of having long ago been painted on wood planks and eroded by the passing of time. I love the timeless charm, don't you?

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist.
