I had a brief weekend along the California coast several years ago culminating in an afternoon boat ride out on Monterey Bay. While the boat I was on was powered, it was the sailboats out on the bay that caught my attention. I love the graceful look of a sailboat. There's just something, to me at least, romantic about this old fashioned mode of travel, using the winds to guide your boat - ah serenity!

This picture is based on one of my photos from that very afternoon. There was something about the proportion of those sails to the boat that just caught my attention,and I loved the tiny little accent of red from the American flag waving at the rear of that little sailboat on Monterey Bay.
