Artist's Description

Although far from my last sunset in Egypt, the scene in this textured photo art was my last sunset during my traditional Nile Cruise aboard the felucca you see here. It's amazing, but this was my first real experience sailing and it was aboard a boat unlike any you'd see back home. These traditional sailboats used to be the norm for travel down the length of Egypt's original highway, the Nile.

Today, these are mainly used by tourists taking more classic Nile Cruises and spending their nights on those boats along the banks of the Nile. And even then, it's not the norm. More people take cruises along the Nile aboard large hotel style boats. While a bed might have been a thing of bliss at night, I wouldn't have passed up this opportunity to experience Egypt a little differently.

And as I stood on the banks to take this last sunset photo, I was feeling quite wistful and years later still feel that way. I would see more sunset in Egypt, but not another like this one.

About Mark Tisdale

Mark Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
