For anyone who has wandered through my photos of Dublin, it's no secret that I quite liked the old post office. This was the last of the grand Georgian government buildings built in the city and it has a really memorable presence on O'Connell Street.
The day I took this photo I had been standing on the pedestrian median in the middle of O'Connell Street for awhile taking photos of the building. I loved the frost on the streets and the stark lighting. There's such a cold winter atmosphere to the photo from the white stone of the post office to the frost on the streets and the cloud streaked skies. But what made this photo stand out for me is of course the lady in red waiting to cross. This was the first person to enter that scene that was really in a color that stood out and popped from the rest of the people and made this image unique in my eyes.
