It was amazing to me how some of the most expansive landscapes I saw seemed to be on the Isle of Skye, a place by its very definition that was finate and small compared to the rest of the Scottish Highlands.
Yet standing on the Quiraing and gazing into the distant horizon, the world seemed bigger here? It also seemed older or younger depending on how you looked at it. It felt like both a slice of ancient history and a place that was new. The wildly rugged landscape that exists on this part of Skye is from what are known as landslips, where the ground literally gives way, creating this jagged horizons in the process. And the earth here is very much dynamic and on the move. I've read that they roads on this part of Skye have to be re-worked yearly as the ground moves so quickly it cracks the road apart. Coming from a more geologically stable place, this is hard to imagine on so regular a basis!
I was so amazed by the landscapes of Skye, and I loved seeing it both wild...
