I'm surprised that I didn't start my Union Jack flag series with one to represent England, but might oaks from acorns and all that. Presenting these place names for the individual countries that the Union Jack represents is a natural choice. The cities, counties, and countries that make up Great Britain are all part of the whole, and it's what makes this such a large undertaking!
England has always held a special place for me. Some of my earliest ancestors to immigrate came from the shores of England to the new world. The distressed style of these flags is one part what I love and one part representative of the historic nature of the country and places I'm illustrating.
I hope if you call England home or it's just a place that haunts your dreams, this may be a design that could illustrate your love of all things British to people who see it hanging in your home!
