Although our stop in the wee village of Killin was really to see the Falls of Dochart, I was quite taken by this cute village. It was just the beginning of my adventure in the Scottish Highlands, but it was a beginning that made me want to return here again and again.
The villages and towns I encountered in the Highlands were the very definition of picturesque or scenic. I think the word postcard perfect even wandered through my mind a few times. As I departed my time looking at the beautiful falls, I spotted this cute cottage basking in the golden sun. I particularly loved its bright red trim-work. Could a stone cottage be any cuter?
The landscape beyond the village really added to the scene. Seeing those rolling hills in the distance really adds to the sense of location, doesn't it? Years later, I would still look at this image and know that it must be somewhere in Scotland. What a gorgeous and memorable county!
