This quote, "Be The Change You Want To See In The World" has been widely attributed to the late Mahatma Gandhi over the years. And it's a quote I personally love and has been at the end of my own correspondence for years.

However, it appears there's no evidence Gandhi ever said it. The closest quote that can be sourced is:

"If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do."

In a sense, I think that although the quote may not be Gandhi's, the words are very much part of the legacy of Gandhi and other people who brought about change through nonviolent protest. Leading and living by example is the beginning of making the world we want to live in, both from a literal and a spiritual perspective.

So, whoever said it, the words are, in my estimation, wise!
