Auburn Sani-Freeze - The Flush canvas print by Mark Tisdale. Bring your artwork to life with the texture and depth of a stretched canvas print. Your image gets printed onto one of our premium canvases and then stretched on a wooden frame of 1.5" x 1.5" stretcher bars (gallery wrap) or 5/8" x 5/8" stretcher bars (museum wrap). Your canvas print will be delivered to you "ready to hang" with pre-attached hanging wire, mounting hooks, and nails.

Artist's Description
One of Auburn's lost landmarks was the Sani-Freeze on East Glenn Avenue. The humble little building was originally a sandwich shop called the Doll House which opened in the late 1930's. The building was later rented and re-opened as a dairy bar called Barber's Sani-Freeze in 1952. Apparently because of Sani-Flush toilet cleaner advertisements, the Sani-Freeze was inevitably nicknamed The Flush. Despite the name, it was a local hangout and popular landmark on a par with Toomer's Corner.
The Flush was forced to close its doors in 1993 to make way for a bank that owned the property and wished to build a new branch there. There were initially plans to move the building but it was discovered to be structurally unsound and demolished. While the Sani-Freeze reopened in a shopping center, the charm was lost and it closed entirely a few years later.
I lived in Auburn just a few years too late to experience the original "Flush" and I admit I don't remember the shopping center loc...
