Description
I had the pleasure of having my first (and so far only) visit to Ireland in one of the coldest winters in decades. If you look closely in the foreground, you'll even see birds walking amongst ice! Brrr!!
But it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for Galway at all. I waked down here along the Claddagh on many occasions. I particularly loved the views from here of Galway Bay and of the Long Walk, the street where the colorful homes in this photo are located. Don't you love all those colors? I was surprised at first when I saw the colorful homes that fronted the Liffey in Dublin, but by the time I had reached Galway, I had come to realize that the Irish do not fear colors on their homes! No white cape cods on the waterfront here!
What I liked most about this particular day was the activity of the birds over the estuary where the River Corrib meets Galway Bay. Those birds were in constant motion and it was fun trying to capture their antics. I can hear them again looking at this photo, can't you?
