Westminster Abbey Foundations - Blueprint For A Legacy Art Print

Based on photos from my last visit to Westminster Abbey, this design came to mind today as I looked at some of my imagery of the old Abbey. It occurred to me how graphic the Gothic church looked already. That set the gears turning and I decided I wanted to portray the old church as it might have looked in blueprints when it was rebuilt in the then new Gothic style of architecture by King Henry III in the 13th century.

The reconstruction of the already centuries old church was handled by masons - Henry of Reyns, John of Gloucester and Robert of Beverley. It's officially the Collegiate Church of St Peter at Westminster and has seen the coronations of kings since William the Conqueror in 1066.

Westminster Abbey will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first Gothic church I got to see in person. And it pretty much set the bar for the rest for me.
