Description
Even now I'm still blown away by the beautiful skies I had during my stay in Oaxaca. I'm still not sure if this is the norm because of the altitude or if I was just incredibly lucky to have been there when I was. Whatever the cause, the photos I have of the beautiful local colors against those fantastic skies still make me feel happy just looking at them.
This particular street scene was near the city's historic center, which is a UNESCO designated World Heritage site because of all the Spanish Colonial architecture that is so well preserved. And you can see why. Aside from the clothes, there's not a lot about this image that betrays when it was taken. There's a great timeless feel to Oaxaca.
Just up the way from this beautiful corner shop was a local market in progress, which explains the crowds of folks on the streets, which for me, breathes life into the image. It reminds us Oaxaca is a place like any other. Beautiful for travelers yes, but a home to others.
