Description
Although Pompeii is in ruins, there's still a very real feeling of walking in the footsteps of the past when roaming the streets there. Every street is as it was nearly two thousand years ago when Vesuvius buried Pompeii and its inhabitants. That last fateful day, there were carts going down these street and ancient Roman citizens walking on those sidewalks. As different as we may be in some ways, there's no shaking the feeling this was a city once.
Of course, at this moment when I took the photo this is based on, what most attracted my attention was the insanely wild clouds in those winter skies over Pompeii. There's almost an ethereal quality to them don't you think? It made the arch in the distance almost feel like a portal to another place or time.
