Sometimes things look beautiful even in a state of decay. There's just something about the timeless elegance of Art Deco that shines through the rust and wear don't you think?
This is a vintage movie theatre marquee from the streets of Perry, Georgia. Bet this old neon sign was a beauty all lit up at night in its time!
I used to think that the top of the sign must have flashed between "Merry" and "Perry" but I got a note several years ago from a viewer who informed me that it was the Muse Theatre, and on closer examination I can just see the ghost of the word Muse up there.
The marquee alone is beautiful but the battered building too if you look closely bears the simple stylized lines of art deco architecture. It's a shame this beautiful old theater has fallen on hard times but I'm glad I had the chance to capture just a taste of its old time glamor.
