Description
Restored vintage post card circa 1941 showing the 1916 Courthouse on the main square in Andalusia, Alabama. This grand century old building is still in use as the courthouse for all citizens of Covington County to this day. It was built in the Beaux Arts style by architect Frank Lockwood.
This postcard was originally produced by Curt Teich, a publishing company in Chicago, Illinois. The company produced a wide range of iconic postcards throughout much of the 20th century. These cards possess a wonderful flavor of Americana. Curt Teich postcards were produced from black and white photographs in a four color lithographic printing process. The black and white photo was converted into a half tone image and an artist hand tinted the card. Afterwards a set of printing plates reproduced these full color postcards.
The number in the bottom right corner indicates this was a reprint of a 1941 Curt Teich Postcard. I make every effort to keep my restoration as close to original as possible including the halftone dot pattern which will be visible up close if printed large.
