Description
It's funny that while heights in general kind of alarm me, there's something about the observation decks of tall buildings that don't alarm me? Go figure! I had always been certain if I ever made it to New York City, I would definitely go up the Empire State Building (and I did), but until I was going, I had never heard about the view from the Top of the Rock AKA Rockefeller Center.
As you can tell, this affords a view that one wouldn't have from the Empire State Building, as yes, that's the famous building towering over the NYC skyline right there! The lights on the building are not always the same but I loved how the blue lights that night complimented the dusk blue sky!
And beneath it a sea of warm golden luminescence. For me, it's after the sun goes down that big cities are the most beautiful. They remind me of massive and wonderfully gaudy Christmas trees, y'know?
I truly could not have ordered a better sky for my first visit to an observation deck in New York. I think if I could only keep one night from my short stay in New York City, it was this evening I'd pick. The view was more than worth it.
