Description
I loved the Tate Modern on so many levels. Beyond the obvious art to enjoy the building itself is incredible. What was once a dis-used power plant, the Bankside Power Station, was converted into an arm of the Tate Museum to house modern art.
The space you see here would have once been filled with massive power equipment, but today, it stands as a monumental empty space. I think this photo really captures the essence of the feeling of standing in the space. It was clearly built for something other than people which appear miniscule inside it.
Art, adaptive re-use, and mid-century industrial architecture all in one visit! And, as you can see, the day I visited, the space was flooded with light.
