Our lives are filled with firsts, but so many of them probably get relegated to the dusty corners of our minds, but I'll not forget my first morning on the Nile. My fellow travelers on our boat were sound asleep when I quietly slipped off the boat with my camera to see what the sun would look like rising over the Nile.
I stayed on a boat much like the one in this picture. Similar but ours was slightly larger. I guess this was a small group of travelers, who like my group, had one early riser out to greet the dawn!
I can't imagine getting tired of seeing the sun rise over the Nile. The reflection was so memorable but day by day becomes more dreamy in my mind. That may explain the painterly approach I took with the textures on this image, trying to make concrete the memories that have grown up in my mind about that chilly morning standing on the banks of one of the world's most famous rivers...
