When we were staying in La Fortuna de San Carlos near the end of my journey through Nicaragua and Costa Rica, I had heard that this church, The Church Of San Juan Bosco, was one of the most photographed in the region. The popularity is not because of the modern architecture of the church but because behind it is Arenal, an active volcano. That volcano would be the cloud covered peak you see in the background.
La Fortuna, for me, was something of a wind-down place. I didn't spend a lot of time exploring the area with my camera, but I couldn't let an apparently much-photographed subject pass me by. I had to try my own take on it.
The interesting thing is since then I've found only a handful of photos of the church and volcano. So, either what I heard was not fact or there are an awful lot of photos of this church squirreled away in shoe boxes.
Whatever the fact, it's an interesting note to conclude on as it's the last of the photos I took during my adventure in Central America. Hopefully the first of more trips to the region as it certainly put me under its spell.
